The help to Karazin University

From the first day of the war, Russian troops have been barbarically destroying civilian infrastructure and exterminating civilians in Kharkiv. Residential buildings, hospitals, schools and universities are still permanently under airstrikes and bombing.

At this moment, we know for certain about the death of our professor Oleg Amosov as a result of shelling as well as about the disappearance and possible death of our associate professor Kostiantyn Miahkokhlib and, of course, about our injured colleagues.

While remaining in Kharkiv, our employees, many of whom are women and the elderly, and their families are under threat, in a critical condition. There are still our students in dormitories we are trying to support, provide for and secure!

We need your help! We are working under extremely difficult conditions, but at the same time we are looking forward to your support right now!

Karazin University is being barbarically destroyed! The building on Myronosytska Str. has been completely destroyed by a missile attack, the Karazinskyi sports complex has been damaged by a direct hit of shells. Furthermore, the main and northern buildings, the building of the School of Physics and Technology, dormitories, the natural museum and the old building of the Central Scientific Library located on Universytetska Str. have also been damaged. Houses of our professors and employees are in areas of heavy shelling, being destroyed and becoming unsuitable for further living under cold temperatures! In this regard, we are doing everything we can in order to evacuate them.

There is hope that we will rebuild the buildings, particularly with government support as well as the support of donors. However, the cultural heritage, which is impossible to be restored, is under threat. We mean, for instance, rare ancient books and manuscripts being kept in the university library. They must be saved!

We appeal to everybody who cares! Dear alumni, patrons, partners and foreign donors! Karazin University announces a fundraiser to help the university community:

– humanitarian aid and evacuation of students from dormitories;

– evacuation of workers who currently need it.
