Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol
February 26 is the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, established in 2020 by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 58, to honor the courage and heroism of Ukrainian citizens residing in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the rally held on February 26, 2014, in Simferopol in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, involving Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians, and representatives of other nationalities. On this day, we commemorate the bravery and determination of those who stood against the violation of international law and the sovereignty of Ukraine.
The Day of Resistance signifies the unity of the people in defending their rights and ideals of freedom. Since 2014, when occupation forces entered the territory of Crimea, people have stood up to defend statehood, their historical roots, and the future.
The Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol is a symbol of unwavering faith in justice and freedom.
Crimea is a part of Ukraine, and it will be liberated from the occupier.
