The University Celebrates The Day of Radio, Television, and Communication Workers

16 november 2024 year

Traditionally, November 16 Marks the Day of Radio, Television, and Communication Workers

This professional holiday unites people from various fields: journalists, editors, publishers, operators, and communication specialists — all those whose work ensures one of the fundamental rights of citizens: the right to access information.

The holiday dates back to November 16, 1924, when Ukraine’s first radio broadcast aired in Kharkiv. Since then, workers in the radio and journalism fields have celebrated this day as a professional holiday. Over time, with the development of the industry, television professionals, online media representatives, and communication specialists have joined the celebration.

Communication connects us with loved ones, the outside world, and creates opportunities for borderless interaction and support during challenging times. Today, it is impossible to imagine everyday life without modern technologies in personal communication, work processes, or education. This became especially evident during the pandemic and the wartime period.

The onset of war underscored the vital role communication plays in our lives. Hearing the simple words “Hello. Everything is fine. We’re alive” on the other end of the line has become invaluable. Professionals in this field report events in Ukraine and beyond, combat the influence and consequences of informational threats, and help millions of Ukrainians stay informed, ensuring connection under any circumstances.

Karazin University significantly contributes to the development of the Ukrainian media space. Specialists are trained within the Department of Journalism at the School of Philology and the Department of Media Communications at the School of Sociology. During their studies, future professionals gain hands-on experience, including internships at the university’s media studio, which helps them develop skills and acquire practical expertise in the media sphere.

We extend our warmest greetings on this occasion, wishing you creative inspiration and boundless energy for new achievements!
