Day of Remembrance for the Babyn Yar Tragedy: The University Remembers
On September 29-30, 1941, a mass shooting of Jews took place in Babyn Yar. This event has entered history as a symbol of the Nazi policy of mass extermination of people, the "Holocaust by bullets."
Babyn Yar is a place of remembrance for more than 100,000 civilians and prisoners of war who were shot by the Nazis between 1941 and 1943. Among the victims were Jews, Roma, OUN underground fighters, concentration camp prisoners, and many others.
On September 29-30, around 34,000 Jews fell victim to the Nazis. The tragedy at Babyn Yar became one of the largest mass killings during World War II.
Karazin University will always remember the tragedy of Babyn Yar. We sincerely believe that the words "Never again" will truly resonate in the consciousness of society.
