Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation
Every year on May 8, Ukraine and the world celebrate the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation.
Today, we honor the memory of all those who died during the Second World War of 1939–1945, which was the greatest tragedy of the ХХ century, taking millions of lives, breaking people’s lives, and destroying entire cities and even countries. The frontline passed through Ukraine twice — first from west to east, then from east to west.
This year, we are celebrating the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation for the second time under conditions of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression. The current war is also accompanied by horrific war crimes committed by the Russian army and its political and military leadership.
We honor the memory of the fallen soldiers who defended our land and support those heroes who are now guarding the integrity of Ukraine. Our struggle continues every day, and we will certainly win, because we are defending our homeland and protecting our right to freely choose our future!
