Birthday of Mykola Barabashov – A Distinguished Astronomer and Scientist

On March 30, 1894, in Kharkiv, Mykola Pavlovych Barabashov was born – a prominent Ukrainian astronomer, rector of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (1943–1945), and one of the first scientists to study the planets of the Solar System.

Thanks to his research, Kharkiv became one of the global centers for planetary studies. His observations of Mars, the Moon, and other celestial bodies were of great significance for science.

As an Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and the author of fundamental scientific works, Barabashov left a remarkable legacy that continues to inspire researchers worldwide.

Today, we honor the memory of a great scientist who brought global recognition to Ukraine in the field of astronomy.
