Lawyers’ Day: The University Celebrates
Every year on 8 October, Ukraine celebrates Lawyers’ Day, a professional holiday honouring those who uphold the law, protect human rights, promote justice and defend the principles of the rule of law.
Today’s legal professionals are not only experts in legislation but also specialists capable of acting responsibly in the face of complex societal challenges, protecting human rights and freedoms, safeguarding the interests of the state and working to strengthen the rule of law.
Karazin University has traditionally placed great emphasis on training legal professionals. At the School of Law, students study fundamental legal disciplines and have the opportunity to specialise in public law, civil law and criminal law.
During the full-scale war, the role of legal professionals has taken on particular significance. They ensure the functioning of state institutions, protect citizens’ rights, help document war crimes, and support recovery efforts and the process of holding the aggressor accountable. At the same time, Ukrainian legal professionals represent the country’s interests on the international stage, work in the fields of international humanitarian and criminal law, contribute to the protection of Ukraine’s sovereignty and help strengthen its standing in the international legal arena.
We wish all legal professionals professional resilience, integrity, wisdom and inspiration. May your knowledge, expertise and commitment to the law contribute to strengthening Ukraine, its legal system and its international standing.
