Ukraine honors the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred — courageous citizens who, during the Revolution of Dignity, stood up to defend democratic values, human rights and freedoms, and the European future of our country. At the cost of their own lives, they affirmed the Ukrainian people’s aspiration for freedom and independence.
The Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred — people of different ages, professions, and nationalities — became a symbol of the strength of the Ukrainian people and their readiness to defend principles and national sovereignty. Their self-sacrifice changed the course of modern Ukrainian history, establishing dignity, responsibility, and unity as the foundation of national development. On 20 February 2014, the highest number of victims was recorded — 48 people. In total, 107 protesters who were killed, along with activists who gave their lives in the spring of 2014, were honored as the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
The university community preserves gratitude for those who gave their lives for the ideals of freedom and democracy and recognizes the responsibility that comes with their sacrifice. This responsibility lies in upholding truth, fostering civil society, strengthening the state, and working for the future of Ukraine.
