Archaeologist Day
Every year on August 15th, Ukraine celebrates Archaeologist Day.
This science, which connects the past with the future, requires profound knowledge, inspiration, and a thirst for discovery. These very qualities define an archaeologist — a person who pieces together history from the sands of time, uncovering the memory of our roots, culture, and civilizations in forgotten corners of the earth.
The Department of History of Karazin University has nurtured many generations of highly qualified specialists in this field. Students of the "History and Archaeology" educational program learn to apply methods of searching, analyzing, verifying, and critiquing various types of information sources in practice, to establish cause-and-effect relationships of complex socio-political, economic, and cultural processes of the past and present, to interpret facts and events, to create their own intellectual product, and to promote it in the humanities.
The Karazin University Museum of Archaeology houses some of the largest collections in Ukraine and beyond, featuring items from the Bronze Age, the Scythian era, the Classical Antiquity period, the Chernyakhiv culture, and the Saltov culture. You can explore these treasures of the past and uncover the mysteries of ancient civilizations by visiting the museum on a guided tour.
Karazin University proudly celebrates this day alongside those who have dedicated themselves to unraveling the mysteries of the past. Your work is not just research; it is a cultural bridge between epochs, a tribute to our heritage, and an opportunity to pass it on to future generations.
We thank you for your meticulous work, perseverance, and boundless curiosity about history. We wish you new discoveries, important finds, and inexhaustible energy in this fascinating endeavor!
