The Delegation of the Education and Research Institute "Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy" (ESI "UIPA") of Karazin University implemented an International Academic Mobility Program

From November 21–25, 2024, the Deputy Director of the Education and Research Institute "Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy" at Karazin University, Professor Oleksandr Kupriyanov, the Acting Head of the Department of Information Computer Technologies and Mathematics, Professor Olesya Nechuyviter, and Associate Professors of the Department of Information Computer Technologies and Mathematics, Halyna Sazhko and Serhii Trokhymchuk, participated in the Erasmus+ 2023-1-BG01-KA171-HED-000116354 grant program, held at the Technical University of Gabrovo, Bulgaria.

The mobility program included a meeting with the Rector of the Technical University of Gabrovo, Professor Ilia Zhelezarov, as well as with the Vice Rectors: Plamen Tsankov (Educational Activities), Dragomir Vassilev (Research Activities), and Hristos Nedev (International Cooperation and Public Relations).

The participants had the opportunity to visit the university's educational and research laboratories, scientific research and technology centers, as well as the university’s Technopark, which was established to promote innovation, technology development, and improve knowledge exchange between the academic community and the business sector. During their visit, the scholars actively participated in the annual UNITECH 2024 International Scientific Conference, delivered lectures to students of the School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics.

A particular focus was placed on strengthening cooperation between the Department of Information Computer Technologies and Mathematics at the Education and Research Institute "Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogical Academy" of Karazin University and the Department of Computer Systems and Technology at the Technical University of Gabrovo. Key areas of discussion with the department head, Associate Professor Valentyna Kukenska, and Associate Professor Olena Stoyanova included:

  • Exchange of experience in teaching information and computer technologies;
  • Organizing internships for faculty and students;
  • Integrating innovative teaching methods into educational programs.

Such meetings promote the development of academic mobility, improve the quality of education, and strengthen connections between partner universities. Cooperation between the departments opens new opportunities for scientific interaction and professional growth.

As part of the cultural program, the delegation visited the city of Tryavna and the Etar Architectural and Ethnographic Museum, which houses the only collection in Bulgaria of water-powered mechanisms, making it one of the richest and best-organized technical collections in open-air museums in Europe.

The delegation also had the honor of congratulating the Rector of the Technical University of Gabrovo, Professor Ilia Zhelezarov, on the university’s anniversary on behalf of the Rector of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Tetyana Kaganovska, and the Director of the Education and Research Institute "Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogical Academy," Denys Kovalenko. The celebration was attended by delegations from Bulgarian universities, as well as representatives from academic institutions in Germany, Japan, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Latvia.

The events began with the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to the first rector of the Technical University of Gabrovo, Professor Vessel Savov, symbolizing respect for the university’s history. The official part of the celebrations continued at the "Emanuel Manolov" Cultural House, where Rector Ilia Zhelezarov addressed the academic community, thanked partners for years of cooperation, and emphasized the importance of international relations in modern education.

In his speech, Oleksandr Kupriyanov noted that the friendly ties between our institutions promote the exchange of knowledge, cultural values, and professional experience between Ukraine and Bulgaria.

A special part of the celebration was the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the Technical University of Gabrovo and Karazin University, as well as the Interinstitutional Agreement under the Erasmus+ program. These agreements are an important step in strengthening partnership relations and open new opportunities for joint educational and scientific projects, academic exchange programs, and collaboration in addressing contemporary challenges.
