Targeted Cooperation Between Karazin University and Newly Established Academic Lyceums of Kharkiv Region
On 11 December 2025, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University welcomed a group of lyceum students, teachers, and administrative staff from the newly established Municipal Institution “Kharkiv Academic Lyceum No. 9” of the Kharkiv Regional Council. The visit took place within the framework of an educational and research cluster on the topic “Using Modern Natural Science and Social-Humanitarian Technologies of Karazin University Education to Build the Career Paths of Academic Lyceum Graduates.”

Targeted cooperation with newly established academic lyceums of the Kharkiv region has been organized since September 2025 by the Institute of Continuing Education in collaboration with individual departments of the faculties and educational and research institutes of Karazin University. This initiative implements the objectives of the new educational and research cluster “Karazin University — for Lyceum Students, Teachers, and Administrative Staff of Newly Established Academic Lyceums of Kharkiv Region.”

During the work of students and teachers of Kharkiv Academic Lyceum No. 9 in the modern laboratories of the Department of Zoology and Animal Ecology of the School of Biology, tutor Serhii Sidorovskyi introduced them to the basics of phylogenetics and involved them in the practical use of electron microscopes to complete assigned tasks. Participants had the opportunity to see a wide range of animal specimens, invertebrates, and aquatic organisms housed in the department’s exhibition sections, as well as to take part in training on simulation modeling in population biology using modern innovative equipment and achievements of genetics. Lyceum students were offered prospective options for admission to bachelor’s degree programmes of the School of Biology departments and were introduced to possible career opportunities after obtaining higher education.

The social and humanitarian module for students and teachers of the academic lyceum was conducted at the University History Museum by its director, Oleksandr Novak. During the training session, participants engaged in practical exercises on the history of Ukraine through the lens of the history of Karazin University, exploring its past and present.

The final stage of the interactive work of the academic lyceum delegation was the signing of a cooperation agreement by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Anatolii Babichev, and the Acting Director of the academic lyceum, Iryna Kulish. The practical implementation of the agreement will make it possible to involve creative and gifted students in the system of lifelong learning, to stimulate their interest in advanced study of natural and technological sciences, finance and economics with Business English, information technology, and philology, with a view to their further admission to the university. Addressing those present, Anatolii Babichev outlined individual priority areas of the “Strategic Goals and Directions of Karazin University until 2030,” which are based on the principles of a socially oriented and socially responsible university.

Iryna Kulish expressed her gratitude to the Rector of the University, Tetyana Kaganovska, for creating optimal conditions for work and communication, as well as for the scientific and practical ideas that will be implemented by the lyceum staff in further cooperation with the Karazin community.
Anatolii Babichev and the Director of the Institute of Continuing Education, Mykhailo Tatarynov, presented the lyceum students with commemorative gifts and awarded teachers with certificates of professional development.
