Response of University of York to the invasion of Ukraine

The University of York is implementing a wide range of initiatives to increase support for Ukraine and Ukrainians forced to face the challenges of the war. In particular, a fundraising campaign has been started to support Ukrainians who need help. The University of York has a wide network of volunteer initiatives among both students and staff, which are focused on supporting categories of people being at highest risk.

On June 27, 2022, the University of York launched a Ukrainian course “Ukrainian for Everyday Communication”, aimed at helping local hosts of Ukrainian refugees to communicate with their guests, which is open for all. It’s a short eight-week course and 100% of the tuition fees will be donated to a UNICEF initiative in Ukraine in order to help children and families affected by the war.
