Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
History
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has existed as an independent structural unit of the School since 2008.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was separated from the former Department of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, which had functioned since the restoration of medical education at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
Teaching Activities
The teaching activities of the Department include the delivery of eight core courses: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pharmacology, Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, Radiology, Radiation Medicine, Medical Psychology, History of Medicine, and Fundamentals of Psychology and Pedagogy; as well as two elective courses: Family Planning for fifth-year students and Perinatology for sixth-year students.

Educational Innovation and Quality Assurance
The Department continuously updates the software of its computer classrooms to improve knowledge assessment. Materials have been developed for written and combined forms of assessment across all disciplines. The Department is actively developing and implementing computer-based modular testing for selected courses.
The Department maintains ongoing contact with graduates to assess the quality of professional training. All graduates of the School continue their education through internship programs at the Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (KhMAPE).
Research Activities
The Department conducts research in the following areas:

Family Planning and Reproductive Health;

Study of the impact of pathogenic factors affecting the female reproductive system on the structure of perinatal losses and gynecological morbidity, and the development of new therapeutic approaches aimed at preserving public health;

The role of connective tissue elements of the fetal membranes in their premature rupture during preterm pregnancy;

The significance of connective tissue dysfunction in the development of preeclampsia and methods of its correction;
-
The role of changes in fetal autonomic function in maternal responses during the third trimester of pregnancy.
Research activities are carried out in collaboration with the National University of Pharmacy of Ukraine, the Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Institute of Animal Science of the Forest-Steppe and Polissia of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
