The team of Kharkiv students and physicists emerged as the laureates of the top honors at the globally renowned QHack 2024 quantum computing hackathon, held from February 8 to February 22.

More than 600 teams from over 90 countries participated in the event. The Kharkiv_team included students from Karazin University:

  • Ilya Lukin, a master's student at the Institute of Physics and Technology, collaborator at the Institute of Theoretical Physics named after M. M. Bogolyubov, and the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology;
  • Mykola Luhanko, a bachelor's student at the Institute of Physics and Technology;
  • Oleksandr Borysenko, a graduate of the School of Physics, collaborator at the Institute of Theoretical Physics named after M. M. Bogolyubov, and the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology.

The Kharkiv_team secured the first place in the "A Matter of Taste" category with their research project "Bridging the Gap is a Matter of Taste." The project focused on calculating spectral characteristics and determining phase transitions in the Ising model using quantum computing.

Additionally, the team claimed the 4th place, thus making it into the top five winners of the open part of the hackathon.

We sincerely congratulate the winners, take immense pride in their achievements, and wish them continued success in their scientific endeavors!
